The Sloan Sakai will have an excellent selection of wines available during the CALPELRA Reception/Wine Tasting scheduled for tonight, starting at 5:00pm! Please stop by Booth #51 to enjoy the following selection listed below and connect with us.
- Iron Horse 2021 Russian River Cuvée (Green Valley AVA): Did you know that since Ronald Reagan, every U.S. President has poured Iron Horse at one or more diplomatic events. This particular cuvée was first produced for the historic Reagan-Gorbachev Summit Meetings in 1985. Iron Horse’s richest offering, its 75% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir from the estate vineyards in Sebastopol. Lemon meringue, candied blood orange peel, nutmeg and poached pear – yum!
- Lady of the Sunshine 2023 “Stolpman Vineyard” Sauvignon Blanc (Ballard Canyon AVA): Gina Giugni’s Lady of the Sunshine label produces “natural” wines of stunning purity and grace in San Luis Obispo. The grapes for this Sauvignon Blanc are from Stolpman Vineyard in Santa Barbara County (Demeter-Certified) , and were foot tread and left on skins overnight before being fermented with native yeast and aged on lees in neutral French Oak for 8 months. Gina says “think margarita salt, lime zest and honeydew melon.” (P.S. – her husband’s label is Scar of the Sea, and it is amazing as well)
- Claiborne and Churchill 2022 “Green Gate Vineyard” Pinot Noir (Edna Valley AVA): Frankly, Claiborne & Churchill’s Pinot Noirs are criminally unappreciated. This particular bottling is from the vineyard across the street from the winery, which is planted in a blend of three clones (Pommard, 115 and 943). To quote Wine Enthusiast – “Earthy aromas of game and petrol meet with raspberry and cranberry on the dynamic nose of this bottling. The gamy streak carries through the sip, giving a savory edge to the boysenberry core. A firm tension holds everything in check.”
- Ryme 2021 “Massa Vineyard” Cabernet Sauvignon (Carmel Valley AVA): This Cabernet Sauvignon is from an own-rooted, organically farmed vineyard in Carmel Valley’s Cachagua region, originally planted around 1971. Bright and energetic, it showcases Cabernet Sauvignon’s aromatic and savory side without any new oak. Medium in weight, it’s full of complex notes of red current, dark cherry, tobacco, violets, a little mint and just a tiny hint of Poblano. If you are ever in Forestville, visit Ryme’s tasting room!
When you visit our booth, don’t forget to drop off your business card so you can be entered into our raffle to win a soundcore Boom music speaker! The drawing will beheld at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 14th.
Have a great week at CALPELRA everyone!
