This innovative session from the 2020 CALPELRA* conference walks you through the technical aspects of the bankruptcy and fiscal emergency processes as well as other insolvencies, including recent pension litigation. You’ll learn about the limitations of the process and how bankruptcy, or the threat of it, can fit into policy makers’ planning. The session’s presenters (Partner Charles Sakai, Managing Consultant Bob Deis, Marc Levinson of Orrick, & Kim Gillingham of Goyette & Associates) are veterans of the Vallejo, Stockton, and San Bernardino’s bankruptcies, as well as vested rights fights in Sonoma County, Vallejo, and Loyalton. Feel free to contact Charles or Bob with any questions you might have! See presentation slides here.
